Urban Mode has come a long way since opening their first store east of Spadina in 1977. It started as a store specializing in small things and fun gifts. Today, if you walk into their new store on Tecumseh, you’ll find yourself lost in a jungle of sophisticated modern furniture. Housed within a large ex-garage turned store space, they’ve got a wide variety of furniture and home décor items organized tidily, almost in unification with the other products surrounding them. Their focus is to bring good design to increasingly new smaller space environments that have become more prevalent during the last couple of years. Design surrounds this store, as owner Myrlene is an interior designer who is married to a talented artist. Their wide selection of contemporary products is sourced from Canada, Europe and the United States including Blu Dot. Some of the furniture lines that Urban Mode carries include Calligaris, BDI and Lind Furniture.
