Uncle Otis started out in 1991 by Roger O’Donnell, keyboardist from The Cure. The interesting name stemmed from combing ‘Uncle’ with the idea of people from the UK acknowledging one another with the term, and ‘Otis’ – a nod to American soul singer Otis Redding. Starting off as a unisex boutique catering to a contemporary audience, the store now focuses on the male population. The store concept however, hasn’t changed much throughout the years. Uncle Otis ensures that the clothes they bring in stick to what they’re good at and remain true to their own philosophy. They pay a great deal of attention to quality details, from the cutting, fabric, fitting and construction of the clothes they bring in, to their emphasis in great customer service. They’re always pleasant and accommodating, treating all their customers with the same level of respect.
